Web Sites Don't Last Forever
Is It Time For A Change

Your Web Site has a "shelf life" It is not stamped on the bottom of your site like a carton of milk, but visitors know it when they see it. Here are some ways to find out if your site is starting to show signs of aging.

- You've changed:  If your business has changed you will want your website to reflect these changes. You may have grown, changed product lines or services. Changes in the economy may also cause changes in your website. If you are a real estate agent perhaps you may want to change your site from a seller's friendly market website to a buyer's friendly market site or a foreclosure specialty site. Change happens does your site show that you are cutting edge or slightly behind the times. Consider how the changes to your business should be reflected or addressed in the structure, design and strategy behind your website.

- 1990's Design:  You know you have seen them online or perhaps you have one. A site that screams, "I was created 10 years ago".

  • chunky, slow-loading graphics
  • old-style "framed" coding
  • little animated cartoon clip-art throughout the site
  • text created as images

These items may cause your site to look outdated. Keeping your site fresh increases credibility with your online users.

- Your Clients Can't Find It: If you hate reading your own website or you get questions from your clients about where they can find information it is time to change. Sites should navigate easily and should have information that is easy to find. Navigation Breakdown is sometimes caused when sites are added to over long periods of time, the navigation breaks down and causes a maze of links. A new navigation system lets you rethink the information that you need and makes it easy to find.

- Your Embarrassed Of Your Site:  Do you hand out your business card and state things like "We are working on our site" or " Our site is a little old" Your website should be a source of pride. It should be an example of your caliber as a business.

- How Do I Find Your Site? : You need to be found on the Search Engines under your important keywords.  If the only way you show up on Google, Yahoo, and MSN is by your name then your site is not Search Engine friendly. A new design and content may help you optimize keywords more effectively.

- What Should I Do? : To encourage your visitors to take specific actions - like purchasing something, contacting you, or signing up for a newsletter. Create Your Call To Action.

- Make Life Easier- Update your site with contact forms, worksheets and shopping carts. This makes life easier for your visitor and lets you compile data effectively.

-Make It Downloadable:  Media Kits, Brochures, Video Commercials and e-books are a great addition to your site. Create a .pdf of this valuable information and include it on your website. This can save a few trees and allows visitors to be fully informed about your product or services.
